Learn how to ask questions and form correct sentences.

1. What are Do / Does / Did?

"Do", "does", and "did" are helping verbs (auxiliary verbs). They help us build correct sentences, especially for questions and negatives.

2. Why do we use them?

  • To ask questions → Do you understand?
  • To make negatives → She does not work
  • To emphasize → I do understand

3. When do we use each one?

Do

I / You / We / They

Does

He / She / It

Did

Past (all subjects)

4. How do we use them?

Questions:

Do/Does/Did + subject + base verb

  • Do you eat?
  • Does he work?
  • Did they go?

Negatives:

Subject + do/does/did + not + base verb

  • I do not eat
  • She does not work
  • They did not go

⚠️ Important Rule

After do / does / did, always use the base verb.

  • Does she like food?
  • Do they play football?
  • Did you call me?
